Brenton Brown McLaren Performance Specialist

Making a debut during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland, the McLaren 675LT is a race-based version of the McLaren 650S. In keeping with the typical McLaren model name simplicity, the McLaren 675LT moniker is based on output capacity (675) and a long tail section (LT). Key variants include the McLaren 675LT Spyder and the McLaren MSO HS.

Much like the McLaren 650S, the McLaren 675LT makes use of a one-piece carbon-fiber monocoque cockpit that is very strong and rigid – despite a weight of only 165-pounds. The front and rear suspension are built around aircraft quality aluminum subframes in the front and rear.

Cooling air, from dedicated vents in the tail of the McLaren 675LT, are used for improved braking efficiency. To further promote stopping prowess, the 675LT is equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes (six-piston front and four-piston rear). New, lightweight, 10-spoke wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R tires help to increase traction by 6-percent over the 650S.

An upgraded version of the M838T engine propels the McLaren 675LT. It is an all-aluminum 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged unit with lightweight connecting rods, a modified camshaft, and a linear EGR valve. A lightweight titanium exhaust system is less restrictive with dual outlets. The turbocharger wheels and fuel system of the McLaren 675LT were also upgraded. The McLaren 675LT is capable of producing 666hp, 516 lb.-ft. of torque and can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.9-seconds. It has a top speed of 205 mph.
